Everyone would like to enjoy a sensational garden, wouldn’t they? After all the hard work, the dirt, the sweat, the critters … a beautiful garden can be very satisfying.

My grandparents were exceptional gardeners and I’ve always enjoyed being outdoors. So when I moved to a home with 3 garden beds already in place, I decided to give it a try.

Ready for 4 secrets that will make your garden sensational?

Cleanse Your Soil

There’s really no way to know all that is in your soil. I was blessed to attend Young Living’s Silver Retreat in 2014, where Gary Young let us in on his secret to good soil. He said the DiGize™ Essential Oil Blend will essentially digest toxins and remove them from your soil … no matter how many contaminants it may contain. Mix DiGize with Neem oil at a 1:1 ratio. Spread this mixture and blend it into the soil. Within 50 days, the soil will test free of contaminants and will be a great place to start your gardening project.

Treat Your Soil

Fungus can remain in the soil and become a problem for you later on. To treat your soil prior to planting with an essential oil mixture. You can choose to use the oils by themselves, or mix together. You’ll want to play around with the combination each year to find what works best for your soil conditions. Use roughly 12-15 drops of essential oil to each gallon of water and spray the solid thoroughly several days before planting.

  • Cinnamon Bark
  • Clove
  • Peppermint
  • Rosemary
  • Thyme
  • Tea Tree
  • Oregano

Weeds

Weeds are the enemy of every gardener! Honestly, nothing works better than removing them by hand… and it’s a never-ending job, isn’t it?

I have used a mixture of a gallon of white vinegar and a 1/4 cup of Thieves dish soap to spray weeds. It does the job, too.

Pests

It’s heartbreaking to see pests ruining your sensational garden! The good news is there are non-toxic choices to deal with pests rather than reaching for harmful chemicals. When I was first introduced to Young Living, I would use heavily diluted Thieves Household Cleaner to spray my plants to rid them of pests. It actually works pretty well! But there are more specific oils available to deter certain pests.

Mix 1 cup of water with 1/4 tsp of Thieves dish soap and add 10-12 drops of the appropriate essential oils to rid yourself of pests. Spray your mixture on and around your affected plants.
