Life can be tricky sometimes. It’s hard to find time for anything else between pleasing the boss at work, household chores, family schedules, and other responsibilities. But that doesn’t mean you have to spend your days in a monotonous routine. There are tons of ways we can make our day-to-day more fun!

Enjoying playtime is essential to your health and well-being at any age. It reduces stress, increases energy levels, builds stronger relationships, and promotes learning when you’re having fun.

Are you looking for ways to have more fun in your day? If so, read on! I’ll show you five easy and effective ways to add more playtime into your life. You don’t need a lot of time or money – all it takes is a little creativity! You’ll find yourself having a great time and feeling better than ever before.

So you should be proud of your desire to have more fun regularly. Take a look at these ideas to help you bring more enjoyment into each day.

Take a Fresh Look at Your World

First, prioritize fun.

Do you put off taking a break because you think you have too many responsibilities? Studies show that frequent breaks help you to accomplish more.

Make more time for fun! Put more laughter, playtime, and family time in your schedule. Make a list of ways you could spend more time playing with your kids, goofing around more with friends, or relaxing and unwinding by yourself. Some ideas include going to more events as a family or spending more time on the weekend relaxing with friends.

And take advantage of your location. Author, Dale Partridge said:

“Stop creating a life that you need a vacation from. Instead, move to where you want to live, do what you want to do, start what you want to start, and create the life you want today. This isn’t a rehearsal, people. This is YOUR life.”

We all have certain places that are more fun than others. We may love our homes because they’re comfortable, or we might love playing outside year-round because we’re able to be active and enjoy the weather.

I feel blessed to live in Michigan. It’s a beautiful place to live … all year long! If you’ve never been to Michigan, search the hashtag #puremichigan and you’ll see why I love it here.

What are some of your favorite places for more free-flowing playtime? What are some unique locations that you could try more often? Find places where you can have more fun with friends and family every day! Try going on more picnics, visiting historical sites, or making the most of a simple trip to the Farmer’s Market.

Secondly, be spontaneous.

A planned fun time is good, but a fun time that happens spontaneously is even better! Sometimes it’s easier to go with the flow and just follow what feels right rather than plan everything out ahead of time. Having more fun that’s unplanned requires more creativity, but the pay-off is more than worth it.

Break the rules once in a while and try something different – even if it’s something that makes other people nervous! If you never break free from your routine, there will be no opportunity for new fun experiences to come into your life. Keep an open mind every once in a while, and you might discover something new.

There are more ways than one to tap your creative potential, and more creativity does not always mean the same thing for everyone. Some of us find joy in art, music, poetry, cooking, or writing. Others like to get out into nature and appreciate the more subtle wonders it has to offer. No matter what your strength, if you’re willing to try something new and more creative, then more fun is just around the corner!

For more fun, be more open with yourself and more open-minded with others. When you take a chance, you might discover new passions or interests that can be more fulfilling than what you’re already doing.

Activities to Have More Fun

Next, make yourself laugh.

Researchers say, on average, a child laughs 300 times a day while an adult laughs only 17 times a day.

Can we agree that laughter makes us feel good? And this positive feeling remains with you even after the laughter subsides. Humor helps you keep a positive, optimistic outlook through difficult situations, disappointment, and loss.

You may say – but I wasn’t born with a good sense of humor! Well, guess what? You can learn to develop your sense of humor.

Honestly, I don’t consider myself a funny person at all. But I do love to laugh and try to find a reason to laugh often. Do you remember the last time you laughed out loud? How did it feel?

How do you bring more laughter into your life? You can spend time with people who make you laugh! After all, laughter is contagious. Most laughter does not come from listening to jokes; it comes from spending time with family and friends.

You can spend time with the children in your life! The sweetest sound in the world is my great-niece, Graelyn’s laughter. She loves to tease! She’ll offer you whatever she has in her hand … a toy or a treat and suddenly steal it away, and the giggles begin!

Spend time playing games with friends and family. It seems like there’s always lots of laughter when you play games with other people.

There’s a theme of spending time with others to lighten your mood and give you opportunities to laugh. Having more fun is as simple as that.

Number four, move your body.

God created our bodies to move! And enjoying some active fun not only burns calories but also causes your body to release endorphins into your system. Endorphins are your brain’s natural feel-good chemicals, and they help you feel more relaxed, more content, more energetic.

So when you can’t seem to find the energy or motivation to get out of bed in the morning … try getting up and dancing! A 15-minute dance session is more effective than a cup of coffee at waking up your body and sharpening your mind.

Change your mood for more fun.

Last, lighten up your attitude.

It’s not always easy, but you can change your mood, and more fun will follow.

Start by using more positive words in your vocabulary. When you’re more aware of the words that come out of your mouth, you become more aware of your thoughts and emotions.

And when you find yourself thinking negative thoughts or engaging in negative self-talk, you can choose more positive thoughts and more positive self-talk.

And if you need to incorporate more fun activities in your life, then make a list and schedule more time for yourself to do more of the things you enjoy.

Sure, it’s just one list … but it’s also your guide to more fun! Now that more fun is on the way, more of it will show up in your life.

Be serious about having fun. Taking time out to play enriches your life and increases your productivity. Treat yourself to a fabulous time at least once a day.

Play sets the tone for relaxation and having more fun in your life, which will increase productivity by decreasing stress levels that are common when people are constantly serious about work or other tasks.

Fun is not something you have only on weekends. More fun should be a part of our daily activities so that we can reap its many benefits. When you’re having fun, you reduce stress, enhance your energy levels, improve your relationships, and learn to do more.
